Gold Supply Can’t Keep Pace with a Powerful New Wave of Demand
Gold Near $4,400 an Ounce Is Creating a Potentially Powerful Earnings and Cash-Flow Environment for Well-Positioned Mining Companies
NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Market News Updates News Commentary - Keeping close watch on the gold market, it’s getting harder to ignore what’s happening. Gold has moved into territory that would have seemed almost unbelievable a few years ago, and the bigger story is that demand remains strong. Gold-backed ETFs attracted about $18 billion in August 2026, pushing global ETF assets to roughly $615 billion, while holdings reached a record 4,189 tonnes. That kind of investment demand gives gold miners something they haven’t had in years: a powerful price environment that can translate directly into stronger revenue and potentially much higher cash flow. Active Miners in the news across the market today include: ESGold Corp. (OTCQB: ESAUF) (CSE: ESAU), First Mining Gold Corp. (OTCQX: FFMGF) (TSX: FF), Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (NYSE: AEM), Sitka Gold Corp. (OTCQX: SITKF) (TSXV: SIG), Barrick Mining Corporation (NYSE: B).
And this is where gold mining gets particularly interesting for investors. When the price of gold rises, a miner doesn’t necessarily have to double production to see a major improvement in its economics. If operating costs remain relatively stable, every additional increase in the price received for an ounce can flow disproportionately toward the bottom line. That creates significant leverage for well-run producers—and potentially even greater upside for companies developing high-quality deposits. With new mines taking years and often billions of dollars to build, the supply side of the industry can’t simply respond overnight to higher prices. That limited supply growth could keep the spotlight firmly on companies that already control proven resources and projects capable of moving toward production.
The numbers show just how big the opportunity could become. At roughly $4,400 an ounce, annual global mine production of around 3,600 tonnes represents approximately $510 billion worth of newly mined gold. Push the average gold price to $5,000 an ounce, and that figure climbs toward $580 billion. At $6,000 an ounce, the annual value approaches $700 billion. Those aren't predictions—they're simple illustrations of what happens to the economic value of global gold production as the metal price moves higher. For investors, the takeaway is straightforward: if gold stays at elevated levels, the companies with strong reserves, manageable costs, growing production and attractive exploration upside could have a lot more room to grow.
Key market takeaways:
Higher gold prices can expand margins without requiring miners to dramatically increase production.
Limited new supply makes quality gold projects increasingly valuable.
Strong investment demand is bringing significant new capital into the gold market.
Central-bank buying continues to support gold's long-term strategic appeal.
$500B+ annual production value shows the enormous economic scale of the global gold industry.
$580B potential value at a $5,000/oz gold scenario.
Nearly $700B potential value at a $6,000/oz scenario.
Exploration companies could benefit as higher gold prices make more deposits economically attractive.
ESGold Corp. (CSE: ESAU) (OTCQB: ESAUF) ADVANCES MONTAUBAN COMMISSIONING WITH ARRIVAL OF KEY PROCESSING EQUIPMENT - Falcon Gravity Concentrator and Thickeners Arrive at Site as Commissioning Activities Continue Across the Montauban Processing Facility - ESGold Corp. (FSE: Z7D) (the “Company” or “ESGold”) is pleased to announce the arrival of additional key processing equipment at its fully permitted Montauban Gold-Silver Project in Québec as installation, integration and commissioning activities commissioning activities continue across the Company's 1,000-tonne-per-day processing facility.
The newly arrived equipment includes a Falcon Gravity Concentrator manufactured by Sepro Mineral Systems and a series of industrial thickeners supplied through A.M. King. These components represent important additions to the Montauban processing circuit and will now move through installation, integration and commissioning as part of the Company's broader plant advancement program.
With the main mill infrastructure nearly completed and major equipment continuing to arrive at site, ESGold is progressively assembling and commissioning the systems required to bring the Montauban processing facility into operation.
The arrival of these components represents another important milestone in ESGold's ongoing plant commissioning program. Commissioning activities have commenced at Montauban and will continue to advance progressively as individual systems and components are installed, integrated and prepared for operation.
The arrival of these components represents another important milestone within ESGold's ongoing commissioning program, as equipment installation, mechanical and electrical integration, system testing and operational readiness activities continue across the Montauban processing facility.
Key Equipment Arrives at Montauban - Sepro Falcon Gravity Concentrator - The Falcon Gravity Concentrator, manufactured by Sepro Mineral Systems, is an enhanced gravity separation system designed to recover liberated precious metals from mineral-processing streams. Using high-speed centrifugal forces, the system increases the effective gravitational force acting on mineral particles, allowing heavier valuable minerals to be separated from lighter material. Falcon concentrators are particularly effective in recovering fine liberated gold, silver and other precious metals.
At Montauban, the Falcon will form an integrated part of the broader processing flowsheet and is intended to support overall precious-metal recovery. It will operate alongside the plant’s other separation, thickening, leaching and recovery systems as part of the complete processing circuit.
Industrial Thickeners - The series of thickeners will play an important role in solid-liquid separation within the Montauban processing circuit. Mineral slurry entering the thickeners is allowed to settle under controlled conditions, producing a higher-density underflow while the clarified overflow can be recovered and reused within the process.
Effective thickening supports both process control and water management by maintaining appropriate slurry conditions for downstream processing while reducing fresh-water requirements. At Montauban, the thickeners will form an integrated part of the broader processing flowsheet as installation, integration and commissioning activities continue across the facility.
From Equipment Procurement to Plant Integration - The arrival of the Falcon Concentrator and thickeners follows ESGold’s previously announced equipment procurement program and the Company’s technical inspections of manufactured equipment prior to shipment. With the main mill building complete and major processing components continuing to arrive at site, ESGold is advancing installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities across the Montauban processing facility.
The facility is designed around a permitted processing capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes per day and incorporates a Merrill-Crowe recovery circuit. The broader flowsheet includes screening and separation, grinding, cyanide leaching, clarification and de-oxygenation, Merrill-Crowe precipitation and doré production. Commissioning activities have commenced and will continue progressively as additional equipment and individual process systems are installed, integrated and tested.
“Every major piece of equipment that arrives at Montauban makes the progress at site increasingly tangible,” said Gordon Robb, Chief Executive Officer of ESGold. “The Falcon Concentrator and thickeners are now at Montauban and moving into the next stages of installation, integration and commissioning. We have invested considerable time and capital building the infrastructure required to reach this point, and our focus is increasingly on bringing the various components of the processing circuit together in a controlled and systematic way.”
Pierre-Marc Gagnon, P.Eng., Operations Director of ESGold, added: “From an operations perspective, the arrival of this equipment allows us to continue advancing installation sequencing and integration across the plant. Commissioning is a progressive process, and each component that is installed, connected and tested moves the overall processing system forward. There is still work to complete, but the transition from construction into commissioning and operational preparation is well underway.” Continued… Read this full release and additional news for ESGold Corp.by visiting : https://www.financialnewsmedia.com/news-esau/
