How it works

1. Scan

Every trading day, we pull the last seven days of SEC Form 4 filings (US) and SEDI insider transactions (Canada) — every officer, director, and 10%-holder trade across NYSE, Nasdaq, TSX, TSXV, and CSE.

2. Filter

We filter to commodity, mining, and energy companies using sector keywords, then exclude tickers already on our watchlist.

3. Cluster

We group filings by company and flag tickers where 2+ distinct insiders trade in the same direction within 30 days — the classic cluster buy signal, and its mirror, cluster selling.

4. Score

Each signal gets a conviction score (6-10) based on number of buyers, total dollar value, and whether C-suite officers are among them.

Why it matters

Insiders know their companies better than anyone. When multiple officers and directors independently buy shares with their own money in a short window, it often precedes significant positive developments. Academic studies consistently show that insider cluster buying outperforms the market.
